Why do all elderly women have the SAME exact hair style?

Almost every woman I see that is 60 or more years old has the same exact hair do. It is always the same, they all have short hair that is done like an afro. Why is that??? I mean come on have some variety.Why do all elderly women have the SAME exact hair style?
I understand what you mean... damn I was wondering about the same thing. Finally someone asked a question like this. Maybe because their hair becomes thinner and weaker and when they cut it short it becomes more healthier .. besides I don't want to see a elderly woman with long silky hair ,,,, wouldn't it just seem plain , awkward ? I guess society at a certain age also makes you change what you wear etc. For example. Old woman don't wear teenage clothes neither do teenagers wear elderly clothes now do they ? The same thing with hair styles.Why do all elderly women have the SAME exact hair style?
This scares me...I wonder if one day at a certain age I will go to bed and wake up in the morning with a blue afro!

As others have said, probably it's because the hair is thinner and finer than in youth and less likely to grow anyway.

BUT,more insidiously, there has always been this thing about 'older women shouldn't have long hair.' To that i say, why not? Some people say it ages you. But I think having a short cliche permed style almost like a uniform can age you too. You are wearing a badge that says 'oldie!'

Not so many years ago you were actually expected to have sensible bob or even shorter hair after you turned FORTY.some people still think this. But look at the most glam,attractive older actresses--most of them have longer hair,usually arouns shoulder-length.
LOL. You are funny! I've noticed that too and why do the elderly always drive Cadillacs? LOL Why do they always wear those ugly diabetic shoes too? I have much respect for my elders though. You can learn a lot from them. So much wisdom!

lol...it is mainly because there hair is not as strong as it was before, so it falls flat.....when they cut it short, the hair is healthier and fuller.

Most of the old ladies I see are really small (like my grandma ^^), so it's really adorable!
LoL You are hilarious. Some women bald as they grow older, and I assume the hairstyle you are talking about makes their hair look fuller.
LOL! I always wondered the same thing. I have vowed to always have long hair regardless of old age.
Their hair thins and balds after a certain age, turning into that beehive afro thing.
Well your hair thins as you get older and you can't do much with it, as in styles.
Its an old people thing..us young folks wouldn't understand.
