How do i get my hair to be like Michael Jackson's 80's hair style?

I currently have an afro. I want my hair to be like Michael Jackson's hair back in the 80's (thriller) but I don't want it to be completely straight like an Asian hair. Do I just use a regular relaxer? Remember, the 80's not like the hair he has now. Also, i'm a guy.How do i get my hair to be like Michael Jackson's 80's hair style?

None of these answers are right. Michael had a jheri curl. In order for the curl to work you would use activator spray. That spray is what made Michael's hair catch on fire. The activator is very flamable.

It was a spray, I just watched a thing on VH1s I Love the 80s 3D about that im not sure what it was called but i would maybe ask a salon or something about it.
